It is official! After plenty of rumors, Bayern Munich’s legendary winger announced his retirement today at the age of 35. During his time in Munich, Arjen Robben has played 201 Bundesliga games (99 goals), 32 games in the DFB Cup (16 goals), 110 appearances in the Champions League (31 goals). He played for Bayern from 2009 to 2019 and, during that time, achieved the status of Bavarian legend!
He had many offers to continue his career on the highest level, but he refused them all. As per Kicker, he had offers from China, USA and the Netherlands.It was certainly not an easy decision, but he made it for the sake of his future health.
With Bayern, the Dutch winger won everything: Eight time die Meisterschale, five times DFB Pokal, and a historical Champions League trophy in 2013, in which he scored the winning goal, and thus deserving the nickname — Mr. Wembley.
